Abi Cochran

My Grandmother Casty at her workbench.

Hello I'm Abi, I design and make jewellery at the edge of the fens near Cambridge, England.

I'm attracted to intricate details and fluid patterns; this comes through in most of my designs. In the last few years my work has been inspired by aerial photos. The recurring theme has been rivers & coastlines - I layer smoothly curving wires over textured silver then embellish with gemstones and gold granulation. . . Botanical etchings has been another recent theme, I take photos in Fulbourn Fen a nature reserve near by home and transfer the silhouettes of plants and trees on to silver.

My grandmother Casty Cobb was a Silversmith, she taught me and many others in Cambridge until she was in her 90's, encouraging and inspiring until a few weeks before she died.

My work is sold online on Etsy throughout the year - SilverSpiralsShop
I'm a member of Cambridge Open Studios
