Open Studios 2014

We all had a great Open Studios this year. It was lovely to have the house filled with my mums beautiful new indigo work - her fabric collages and scarves went down well as always. Lovely to spend time around Emi Gordon and her stunning stone letter cutting too.

A lot of preparation went into getting ready this year! Tools and books had piled up since I last took part 2 years ago. So the giant slider puzzle of rearranging the house to clear the small display space began months before.

We had a great turn out - despite the unusual heat and downpours. It's so encouraging to see people returning to see new work year after year, as well as getting good feedback from new visitors - Thanks to everyone who came!

Due to the other art events in the village, this year more locals than usual heard about the shows - always good to meet people who live near by. Familiar faces that I'd met many times on walks in the nature reserve didn't recognise me with my hair brushed and out of my dusty work clothes!

I was very happy that all the new river designs went down well. I'd borrowed a ring I'd made for my sister - this mountain river spinner ring was the most popular piece on show. Lots of orders for similar pieces means this design is bound evolve over the next few months. . . I made short video of it spinning before returning it!
